Policy Advocacy

Our goal is to build local desire for national policy change in the agricultural sector through our campaigns and ongoing programs

Systematic change through concentrated action

Policy Campaigns are critical to the success of our work. Each year, we design tailored campaigns pertaining to some of the biggest agricultural issues in Canada and address the critical policy needs. We work across the nation with interested advocates and volunteers to deliver policy asks to elected representatives. This approach is designed to create effective change at provincial and federal levels through our use of the democratic system.

Cultivated Meat Policy Campaign

Calling All Advocates!

Reimagine Agriculture is running a political campaign asking the government to support the development of cultivated meat.

This is the process of growing cells in a lab to create meat without harming animals.

This pragmatic solution allows us to remove the environmental and

welfare issues associated with traditional animal meat.

We need your help the put cultivated meat on the Canadian political agenda!

We will prepare you to meet with your MP to voice your concerns about

animal agriculture.

Tell the Federal Government To Put Cultivated Meat On The Menu!

Cultivated meat technology is the future of the agricultural industry. This alternative way of creating meat will benefit Canadians' health, economy and environment.

There is an urgent need to address the funding, regulatory, and educational gaps to provide a solid foundation for this new industry to thrive. We the undersigned, along with Reimagine Agriculture, put forward the following three policy asks to address our concerns regarding the shift from conventional to cultivated meat;

Funding:

The Federal Government of Canada must make funding accessible to the cultivated meat industry. Canada must support the research and development of cultivated meat technology and start-up organizations within the industry.

Regulation:

The Federal Government of Canada and The Provincial Governing Bodies must collaborate to create regulations addressing the development of a cultivated meat industry and the sale of cultivated meat products.

Education:

In collaboration with the provinces, we insist that cultivated meat's environmental, social and economic benefits are taught to Canadian students. This will ensure their inclusion and success in the global modernization of food security in a climate-challenged world.

Cultivated Meat Policy Brief

Canada needs to step up to the plate. A lack of financing, regulatory clarity and education has prevented the cultivated meat industry from growing in Canada.  We have written a policy brief targeting MPs to help them understand this emerging and important issue.

We need our government to step up to bring our agricultural sector into the 21st century and create new jobs, enhanced food security and not be left behind with outdated processes in a field that loses jobs every year. More importantly, the success of cultivated meat is key to achieving our climate goals, addressing the growing crises around antibiotic resistance and foodborne illness, and ensuring sustainable and ethical development worldwide.

We need your help! Volunteers are critical to the success of our campaign. Our advocates are given training on our policy brief and hosting an MP meeting.
