Collaborations
Building Alliances For A Greater Impact

We work in partnership with organizations that share our values to create change in the food system through collaborating on research, mobilizing knowledge, organizing policy projects, or supporting institutional change.

If you're interested in collaborating with Reimagine Agriculture on a project or campaign, please email us at info@reimagineagriculture.org with some details regarding your organization and your desire to collaborate.

Despite...

  • 58% of the food in Canada wasted or lost
  • Majority of land and water in agriculture used to create less than ⅕ of total calories consumed

Few are aware of the current issues in the food system and the role they play in personal challenges to large scale systemic issues.

Reimagine Agriculture benefits from and contributes to broad collaborations to create a compassionate, sustainable and resilient food system.

Recent Collaboration Highlights

Let's Waste Less Food

Wider Impact Through Policy Intervention

Project: Food Fight is a research and policy initiative, in partnership with the University of Windsor and University of Ottawa faculties of law, focused on addressing food loss and waste in Canada.

Food waste and loss contributes to environmental degradation, increased food costs, and global food insecurity.

This project focuses on understanding current food waste policies and creating a roadmap to create a comprehensive solution to preventing and redirecting food waste and loss. It is made possible by our law school partners. In collaboration with Professors Patrícia Galvão Ferreira and Professor Heather McLeod-Kilmurray,  we collaborate on research initiatives, knowledge mobilization, and work with students to tackle real-world legal issues and collaborate with Reimagine Agriculture in our shared dedication to a brighter food future.

Changing Systems, Changing Outcomes

How It Works:

We shift food environments to support creating a compassionate, sustainable, and resilient food system. To guide us in this work, we encourage and advocate for change by following two overarching principles:

  • Change patterns of consumption to be more in line with the Canada Food Guide.
  • Pursue systems of food production, distribution, and consumption that prioritize reducing food waste.

If institutions (businesses, universities, municipalities....) shift their food systems to be more in line with these two principles they can expect to see:

1. Reductions in Food Costs

2.  More Nutritious Meals

3. Decreases in GHG Emissions

Working Together for Greater Results

We've partnered with Balanced to increase the collective impact!

Balanced works with us as our partner in program implementation. We find the collaborators, they provide the resources. Their Institutional Outreach program provides all the support food service teams need to make it easy to maximize the healthfulness of their menu offerings.

The expert team at Balanced can help bring more balance to the menus, all while helping to save money, increase customer satisfaction, meet the growing demand for health-promoting meals, and improve public health!

Where We Can Make Change

Universities and Schools

Universities and colleges serve hundreds of thousands of students and the potential impact is huge! Food reuse, diversion, and repackaging, along with climate and diet-smart menu changes can create positive impacts for student and planetary health. If you're a student leader, a member of an agricultural or climate-focused club, or a concerned student wanted to create change, we want to hear from you!

Senior's Centers

The longevity and continuity of food service programs at retirement homes and assisted living facilities offer a great opportunity to address agricultural issues through in-house food service programs. If you want to make positive agricultural change and live in or work at a center that serves food, reach out to us!

Daycares and After School Programs

Healthy foods for growing bodies can be just as healthy for our farm fields and global environment. Creating change and implementing healthy, thoughtful diets from an early age will help to instill positive healthy eating habits for life. If you work at a child care program that serves food, let's make a difference together!

Cafeterias and Lunch Counters

Workplaces in a wide range of sectors and high schools across the country rely on a cafeteria model to keep their workers and students well-fed. The high volume and reliable customer base of these cafeterias mean that small changes can have big impacts when added up across the many, many meals served. If you work or attend school somewhere with a cafeteria (or work in the cafeteria!) and want to make a positive  change, reach out to us today!
